For the first time since 1982 Country Music Week is in my hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Four full days of country music leading up to the CCMA Award show on Sunday Night, which will be showed on CBC, which will also include performances by international superstars Florida Georgia Line and Thomas Rhett.
Over the next four days I will be writing about the events that I was lucky enough to attend, so make sure to check back daily.
Day 3 – Saturday, September 12, 2015
Today was the Irving Oil Fan Fest event held at the Cunard Centre. This was a free event that was open to all ages. In my opinion this was a huge event fro the city, because all the big name Canadian country music artists were performing at this event. It gave everyone a chance to see these artists, without having to pay an arm and a leg. Chad Brownlee said that this event was to thank the fans, because if it weren’t for the fans none of them would be where they are today.
This included performances by; Steven Lee Olsen, Bobby Wills, Jess Moskaluke, Tebey, High Valley, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Emerson Drive, Brett Kissel, Dean Brody, Paul Brandt, Chad Brownlee, Tim Hicks, Mackenzie Porter, Autumn Hill, Gord Bamford and Wes Mack.
Each artist sang three songs, accompanied by just their voice and some guitars.
Unfortunately I didn’t get to see everyone because we stepped outside for air and then weren’t allowed back in.
The plan for the night was to go to the MDM Recordings party at the Marquee, however on our way there we found out it was a Private event only. Bummer.
Tonight is the night of the CCMA Awards and I am very excited to attend my first award show.
